New Deployment Options for IBM i and Linux: Offline Installation and Docker Support

We’re pleased to announce a significant expansion of the deployment options for our Green Screens Terminal Server for IBM i solution.

Over the past period, we have focused on making deployment simpler, more flexible, and better suited to different customer environments — including systems with limited or no internet connectivity.

Offline Installation for IBM i

We recently introduced a fully offline installation option for IBM i, delivered as an installable save file. This makes it possible to deploy the solution in environments where direct internet access is restricted or unavailable.

Platform-Agnostic Linux Installation

We have also added a Linux-based, platform-agnostic offline installation. This provides customers with greater flexibility when deploying Terminal Server for IBM i across different Linux environments, while maintaining the benefits of an offline installation process.

New Docker Repository for Online Deployments

As the next step in this evolution, we have implemented our own online Docker repository, providing customers with Docker-based installation and deployment options.

This allows customers who use Docker to obtain and deploy our software directly from our repository, simplifying installation and making it easier to integrate Terminal Server for IBM i into modern containerized environments.

Built on Official Runtime Components

Our Docker images are built using established, officially supported runtime components:

Java runtime: Eclipse Temurin (Eclipse Adoptium)
Base operating system: Red Hat UBI 9 Minimal
Default JDK: JDK 21

Using these components provides a modern, standardized foundation for our container images while ensuring a consistent runtime environment across supported deployments.

Supported Platforms

Our Docker solution currently supports the following platforms:

  • linux/amd64
  • linux/arm64
  • linux/s390x
  • linux/ppc64le

More Flexibility for Customers

With these new deployment options, Terminal Server for IBM i can now be deployed in a wider range of customer environments — from fully isolated systems requiring offline installation to modern cloud and on-premises environments using Docker.

These improvements are part of our ongoing effort to make Terminal Server for IBM i easier to install, integrate, and maintain, regardless of the infrastructure in which it is deployed.
